2017 Mataro
A savoury, rustic wine that speaks about the warmth of the Barossa Valley’s earth. Rich in spice and full of fruit with a backbone of dusty tannin. This variety is known by many names, including Mourvèdre (as previous vintages of this wine were called).
A return to the vintage of old with vintage beginning somewhat later than recent years. High spring rainfall and consistent temperatures throughout the growing season saw higher yields coupled with excellent flavour intensity. Overall, another exceptional year.
A fresh and exciting representation of Mataro. The opening bouquet hints of blueberries and jubes. A touch of savory with sophistication sees this playful and seamless wine coat the palate with joy. Subtle oak integration over a brief eight months adds fine tannins to the finish.
