2015 Mataro
A savoury, rustic wine that speaks about the warmth of the Barossa Valley’s earth. Rich in spice and full of fruit with a backbone of dusty tannin. This variety is known by many names, including Mourvèdre (as previous vintages of this wine were called).
A dry, hot summer lead to the earliest start to vintage in Turkey Flat history. Mataro, being a heat loving variety thrived in the heat, ripening for a harvest date of 27th of February. The resulting wine is one of fragrance, flesh and tannin.
The resultant wine is a fresh and exciting representation of Mataro. The opening bouquet is full of blueberries and jubes. Gently savoury though classy. A playful and seamless wine that coats the palate in joy. Subtle oak integration over a brief eight months add fine tannins to the finish.
