2016 The Ancestor Shiraz – 96 Points
“Shiraz grown entirely on the estate’s 1847-planted vineyard. This is a seamless wine and yet it has grunt and edge too. It’s not just syrupy and soft, though it does sport a coffee-cream element. It’s muscular with tannin, earthen, blackberried and drifted with woodsmoke. It presses both firmly and neatly throughout. The Turkey Flat wines reek of confidence nowadays. They step neatly but firmly. This release of The Ancestor is a pinnacle example”.
